Score in Pipa Combate is not flat. Each cut you land within about three seconds of the previous one raises a multiplier, and the multiplier applies to the base value of the cut, which itself grows with the wave number. A three-chain on wave twelve is worth several ordinary cuts.

Where chains come from

Chains need two things that only exist on multi-rival waves: opponents close together, and a lock you can win fast. Waves with two or three rivals put their anchors on separate rooftops, so their lines fan out across the sky and often run near each other in the middle band. That overlap is your chain zone.

Setting one up

1. Pick the pair whose lines are closest together.
2. Enter the first lock with full grip.
3. Win it fast — saw hard, weave tight, do not conserve.
4. The moment the line snaps, fly straight across to the second line. Do not stop to chase the falling kite.
5. Saw again immediately. The window is short.

When not to chase the chain

Forcing a chain is a common way to lose a run. If your grip is half empty after the first cut, the second lock is one you will probably lose, and losing a kite costs far more than the multiplier was worth. Let the window close and take the second fight properly.

The same goes for the last rival of a wave. There is nothing to chain into, so there is no reason to rush — fight it cleanly, catch the debris, and bank the spools.

The catch bonus does not break the chain

Collecting a falling kite does not reset your combo timer, but it does eat seconds. On a three-rival wave the usual answer is: cut, cut, then sweep up whatever debris is still in the air. On a two-rival wave you can usually afford to catch on the way.
